Integral Cinematic Inquiry - The research method for this study is an Integral Cinematic Inquiry approach, focusing on both qualitative (subjective/intersubjective) and quantitative (objective/interobjective) aspects of the cinematic creation process, the cinematic material itself, and the cinematic viewing experience. The research procedures include the design, creation, and exhibition of cinematic media experiments focusing on one or more of the research focus areas (see above); and the collection and analysis of experiential (qualitative), and biological and neurological (quantitative) data from cinematic creators and viewers in a variety of creation and viewing environments.
Integral Methodological Pluralism (IMP) - The research method for the Integral Cinema Project, which is proceeding in tandem with this study, is be based on Integral Methodological Pluralism, a comprehensive research approach which seeks to study phenomena using a combination of the 8 indigenous human perspectives and their corresponding methodologies (the interior and exterior dimensions of subjective, intersubjective, objective, and interobjective realities).
